You knew it was coming.... THE ULTIMATE PC. This will be a list of the components that the system no one would be insane enough to buy, will contain, and the rough pricing of these components. There are also links to the component's webpage's. And once again this will be done in Canadian Currency.

  • An Asus A7M266 AMD 760 chipset motherboard. Cost: $265

  • An AMD Athlon (T-Bird) 1.33Ghz. Cost: $469

  • An Antec SX1480B WTX, Pentium 4 compatible file server case, w/ dual P4 400 watt power supply's. 10 5 1/4" bays, and a whole bunch of extra case fans. Cost: $900 (Not sure on this price)

  • 2 SONY GDM-FW900 24" .23-.27 dot pitch, perfectly flat-screen Display's. with a Max Resolution of 2304 x 1440 @ 80Hz. What could be better than this monitor... well, probably 2 of these monitor's. Cost: $6750

  • Pioneer PDP-505HD 50" High Definition Plasma Monitor. Cost: $31,328

  • An ELSA Gladiac 920 64Mb AGP4X, nVIDIA Geforce III Video Card. Cost: $825

  • A 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 64Mb PCI Video Card. (for 2st monitor) Cost: $175

  • A Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! Platinum 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound card, w/ Remote control. Cost: $228

  • An Entire Digital Theater System Including: A Harmon Kardon AVR 7000 Dolby Digital DTS Receiver. 2 Krell Full Power Balanced 600c 600W Per Channel - @ 8 ohm's - Stereo Power Amplifier's (for front and rear speakers).   • An Adaptec Ultra320 SCSI 4-port RAID Controller. upgraded to 128MB of Cache (2 x 64 MB ECC SO-DIMM). This link is just to the press release, I will change the link as soon as the actual product is released. Cost: $2584 (estimated)

  • 4 Quantum Atlas 10K III 73.4Gb Ultra320 SCSI 10000RPM hard drives, running in a RAID 0 configuration, for a total of 293.6Gb of storage. And as soon as some manufacturer comes out an Ultra320 SCSI 15000RPM hard drive, of substantial enough size, I will update this to that drive. These hard drives are each in 5 1/4" cooling bays. Cost: $7650 (couldn't find a price on this one, so this price is slightly higher than what the Atlas 10K II was listed at.

  • Dual-Booting, with Bootmagic 6, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and Windows Me.

  • An Adaptec 29160N Ultra160 SCSI Controller Card (for CD-Rom and CD/RW drive's. CD-ROM on 1st channel, and CD/RW on 2nd channel Cost: $290

  • A Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32S internal 12x/10x/32x Ultra SCSI CD/RW Drive with Burnproof technology. Cost: $410

  • A D-Link DES-3225G Managed 22+2 Port NWay Standalone Fast Ethernet (10/100) Switch. For those LAN parties. Cost: $1599

  • 2 x 256Mb Mushkin PC2100 DDR SDRAM DIMM Modules. For a total of 512Mb of PC2100 DDR SDRAM. (as soon as I can find a supplier for 512MB PC2100 DDR DIMMs I will upgrade it to that) Cost: $1125

  • Logitech Internet Keyboard. I don't like ergonomic keyboard's very much. Cost: $40

  • Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel 4-button mouse. Cost: $90

  • So the Total Cost of the system comes to: About $102,430 Canadian Dollars. Once again most of these prices were obtained from Pricewatch in American Currency, and then converted into Canadian Currency.
