Here is the list of component's that my Dream PC will contain. I will update this section whenever something new and better comes along. I'm going to put rough estimates on the prices of the components as well, and total up the system cost at the end. This will be done in Canadian Currency.

  • An Asus A7M266 AMD 760 chipset motherboard. Cost: $265

  • An AMD Athlon (T-Bird) 1.33Ghz. Cost: $469

  • A PC-Mods Lian-Li PC-70 Aluminum Case. (The most incredible looking case around) Cost: $390

  • A SONY GDM-F500R 21" .22 dot pitch, perfectly flat-screen aperture grille Display. with a Max Resolution of 2048 x 1536 @ 75Hz. Cost: $2699

  • An ELSA Gladiac 920 64Mb AGP4X, nVIDIA Geforce III Video Card. Cost: $825

  • A Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! Platinum 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound card, w/ Remote control. Cost: $228

  • Some VideoLogic DigiTheatre DTS , Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS 220W true RMS speakers and sub-woofer. w/ Remote Cost: $840

  • I'd also really like some nice headphones like the SONY MDRV900, Studio Monitor Series headphones Cost: $229

  • A Promise SuperTrak100 Pro 6-Port UDMA/100 IDE RAID Controller, upgraded to 128Mb cache (1 x 128Mb EDO SIMM). Cost: $770

  • 6 IBM Deskstar 75GXP 75Gb UDMA/100 7200RPM IDE Hard drives, running in a RAID 0 configuration, for a total of 450 Gb of storage. Cost: $2466

  • Dual-Booting, with Bootmagic 6, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and Windows Me.

  • A Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40A 16x/10x/40x IDE CD/RW Drive with Burnproof technology. Cost: $320

  • A Pioneer 16X Slotload IDE DVD-ROM Drive. Cost: $130

  • A Kenwood 72X TrueX IDE CD-ROM Drive, w/ Zen's TrueX technology and Kenwood's 7-Beam pickup. Cost: $110

  • A Sigmadesigns REALmagic Hollywood Plus MPEG-2 Decoder Board. Cost: $70

  • A 3COM EtherLink 10/100 3CR990-TX-97 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet PCI NIC, w/ 3XP Processor. Cost: $135

  • A D-Link DES-3225G Managed 22+2 Port NWay Standalone Fast Ethernet (10/100) Switch. For those LAN parties. Cost: $1599

  • 2 x 256Mb Mushkin PC2100 DDR SDRAM DIMM Modules. For a total of 512Mb of PC2100 DDR SDRAM. Cost: $1125

  • Logitech Internet Keyboard. I don't like ergonomic keyboard's very much. Cost: $40

  • Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel 4-button mouse. Cost: $90

  • So the Total Cost of the system comes to: About $12,800 Canadian Dollars. Most of these prices were obtained from Pricewatch in American Currency, and then converted into Canadian Currency.
