Welcome to VW Tweaked. If you're wondering what this page is for, it's just a page for me to show off my awesome car. Actually, I will be posting some other cars on here as well, some of my friends car's, as well as some cars that I would really like to have. I will also write about modifications I would like to do to my existing car, and other cars that I may purchase in the future. I have also decided to include a page on my PC as well as other friend's PC's. And There is one other reason to come to this page; for some reason my brother seems to like composing techno songs on his computer, so I will also be posting those here. Just go to the links at the side of the page. I will be updating this, main, section of the page occasionally, with various interesting things that happen to me. Actually I will probably just be posting whatever I feel like posting. Here's another place to check out, the VW Tweaked Delphi forum. So Read On...

Posted Dec. 25, 2000. 12:10AM central time Well, I'm sure having a fun day. Can you believe that I had to come to work today?!! It would seem that no one can even go one day without internet support. And can you believe that I've actually had people calling for support?! People don't you understand.. You were supposed to stay up really late last night, and then sleep in today and let me get some sleep here without interruption. On anther note, has anyone heard of that new movie coming out called The Fast & the Furious? It was originally going to be called Redline. And man does it look awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just don't know if I'll be able to wait until it comes out on March 23, 2001. Finally a movie all about super-awesome souped up imports (although it doesn't look like there are any VW's). I was really getting sick of movies that had either old chevy's or else Super-exotic sport's cars, for the race scenes. make sure you check out this link to the info on the movie. And be sure to watch the trailer It's incredible. Oh man I can't wait until I'm done working, it's only for 4 hours but they are excrutiatingly boring... Only 2 hours left. Oh yeah, I don't know how this slipped my mind. All of the repair's on my car are done, so it's not too bad to drive anymore. So I just got my new deck installed it's the Clarion DRB-4675 and it actually makes the speakers I've had in my car for a while, sound waayyy better, I really like it. The only problem I have with it, is that it's really hard to put the face plate on and to take it off. I also got my alarm installed, it's the Viper 300 ESP, and I added some extra stuff to it, like a pain inducing siren inside the car (which really hurts the head), along with some other stuff which I don't really want to get into right now. And it turns out that my dreams did not come true, that guy that I slid into about a week back just called me and he's already gone to the police, so now I'll get 2 demerits and I'll have to pay his deductable since his truck is leased. And to top it all off since my car is insured under my mom's name I also have to pay an extra $150 the next time I renew my license. My brother just got a nice '89 Jetta. It's got a new paint job, no rust, and it's a 5-speed manual. So it should be pretty fun to drive in the summer, as soon as he does some mod's to it. First of all he is going to get one of those headlight conversion kits, the one that turns them into circular headlights (I love jetta's with the circular headlights). Next he's going to get a performance exhaust system, one with a really cool looking tail-pipe. After that he'll get lowering springs, to lower it a few inches. And if he get's a crap load of money for some reason he'd probably see if he can get a VR6 engine some how, and put that in it. That would rock. I guess that's all for now, I can't really think of anything else going on. |

Remember how about a week ago my week got really good... Well this week is really bad, but it's also kinda good. Let me explain. On Friday Dec. 15 I was driving down a certain street and as I was coming to a stop my wheels just kept slipping, I don't like the feeling you get when this happens. The only reason this happened is because it was early in the morning, extremely slippery, and none of the roads had been sanded right after a snowfall. And I'm a pretty cautious driver in the winter, anyways I was only going about 5 km/h but my front bumper hit the back bumper of a fairly new Ford F-150. So we both got out of our vehicles to asess the damage. The damage was actually quite minimal, there was not even a scratch on my car, but of course something had to happen to his truck. What happened is that I bent the trailer hitch, now I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not. It kind of seperated from the bumper, so I really hope that the auto body shop can just bend it back or something. And if not, I'm just praying that his deductable is only $200 and not $500. Once we had checked out the damage he wanted my license plate number, name, and phone number, and since I'm such an honest guy (no sarcasm) I gave them to him. But I haven't heard from him yet, I'm hoping that the damage was so easy to fix that he's not even going to bother calling me for money or anything, but I'm probably dreaming.
so that was the bad news, the good news is that my course is almost done, only one more week and 3 more tests until I get 2 weeks off for holidays. And my cousins are coming in from Winnipeg so that should be pretty fun. I also have a time scheduled to get the rest of my car fixed, and a few days after that I have a time scheduled to get my deck put in. And then the day after that I am putting the alarm in, which includes a pain inducing pizo siren... excellent (mr. burns voice). So I guess in one way all of this good news kind of translates into bad news, because it's going to basically consume all of my funds. Oh well, I'll just have to work extra over the holidays to get back some moolah.
See ya.Posted Dec. 11, 2000. 11:23PM central time
I found a schematic for a 100W RMS Power amp, but it would seem that it is a little more difficult than I had expected to build this power amp for my car. Not that the circuit is too complicated, it's just that it is too expensive. The guy that designed it says that the cheapest you would probably find the components for it, would be around $250... and that's not even guaranteed to work. Plus I could go out and buy a professionally made amp, with a higher power rating, for just a little bit more money.
I was so close to buying that extra 128Mb of ram for my system today, but just as I was about to go the store I thought about it for a minute.. I would probably end up spending about $100, that's $100 I could use to buy some nice Pioneer 6x9's for my car. So I, very painfully, put the money away for the speakers. And I will be putting all of the sound equipment into my car as soon as the final part is in, one tiny little cable. But it should be in this week. But I have just noticed something else that is starting to annoy my with my car, it kind of pulls to the right. So I'm going to have to get that looked at soon.

I just finished the Insane PC Section of this webpage. I went completely overboard on it, and it has absolutely everything I could think that I would want, in it. It came out to around $70,000 so check it out, and give me some suggestions to improve it.

Make sure you check out the VW Tweaked Delphi forum I just started. There's not really anything on it yet, but start some discussions!! I'm going to as soon as I get a little time.

Man my week just got a whole lot better!! I just heard from European Auto that Autopac is going to go ahead with the additional repairs. Thank goodness. They just have to order a few more parts, which will be in, in a couple of days (I've heard that one before), and then all of the repairs will be done. And my alarm just came in too. So once I put that into the vehicle, I will go and get the Deck I want, installed. I don't have enough money to get the amp and sub I wanted though. Mainly it's just the amp that costs too much, the sub is only like about $70. So what I think I might do, is build my own amp. It's actually pretty easy to do this, since I'm taking Electronic Devices right now in my course. It's a Class AB amp that I would have to build, but it's really simple just some transistors, diodes, resistors, and capacitors. Rather than designing my own amp though, I think I'll just try to find a schematic somewhere on the internet.
See ya

Be sure to check out the new section on my DREAM PC, in the fairly new PC Section of my webpage.

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything. But I have very good reason. I had to write 3 tests this week, and I worked, so I didn't have time.. Like you haven't heard that before. I also just found out some more wonderful news (sarcasm), it turns out that the estimator from Autopac didn't estimate the damage done to my car properly. He accounted for about $600 dollars in repairs. And now after European auto has done what the estimator said too, they also need to do about another $400 dollars worth of repairs. So if Autopac decides they want to write off the Fox (even though they've already put the $600 dollars into repairs) they can. Oh how I love Autopac.
On to some better news, I don't have any school tomorrow. Well, technically I do, but... I don't really have to go. So I won't be going to bed anytime soon. And I don't plan on getting up too early tomorrow either. In fact, I'm probably not going to put the least bit of effort into anything I do tomorrow. excellent.. (Sounding like Mr. Burns).
I've gotten into EMI pretty good, Man I love Monkey Island games. If you don't have this game yet, buy it for sure! Unless of course you really hate adventure games. Bye for now.

Finally finished all the benchmarking I'm going to do for now, and I got the PC Stuff section off to a good start. I've got a bunch of benchmarks of Quake 3 Arena, and 3DMark2000. I'd actually also like to benchmark Unreal Tournament, but I'm not sure how. If anyone knows how to do this please e-mail me.
I also managed to finally get Escape From Monkey Island And it's really good. I still have to get used to the controls though. Of course I do know that this game has been out for probably a couple weeks now, but you see, I had a credit a certain store, and I really wanted to use it up. So I had to keep waiting for this store to get it. And they finally got it today. So I'm in a pretty good mood, especially since I just finished up some really annoying labs for my instructors at ACC. So I can actually relax over the weekend. Uh oh..... I think I'm starting to feel the urge to play Unreal Tournament some more. Gotta go.

Up until now I have been posting any information about my PC on the main page. But that's all gonna change, now that I have added the new section to this page PC Stuff as you have probably already seen at the side of the page. This way I can post a whole lot of Benchmarks, and info about my system, without forcing those that aren't interested in that sort of thing to read it. I will still likely post big, or important, PC info on the main page though. I hope you like it. Right now there isn't anything on this page, but there will be shortly. So be patient.
Posted Nov.22, 2000. 7:50PM central time
Well, I've still been too busy to do any serious benchmarking with my new system. So you will have to be patient with me, since I have so much work and school to worry about (that is, if you're even interested in anything like benchmarks). I did run 3DMark2000 once, and my score was 6701 3D Marks. I thought that seemed kind of low for the system, but now that I think about it, it's probably my Geforce DDR holding me back. Oh well, I guess I'm just going to have to save up for that Geforce 2 Ultra, only $500 more dollars to go.
Man am I getting really sick and tired of waking up every day at like 7:00Am to go to school, and then getting maybe 2 hours to relax and eat supper, before going to work at 5:00Pm. And then coming home at 10:00PM, to sit down at my PC for a few hours, which makes it fairly hard, for me anyways, to get up in the morning. I don't do to well with 6 or 7 hours of sleep. Man I sure complain a lot. Oh yeah, I just remembered that I have this new excellent idea for a "get rich quick scheme". But I can't tell anyone about it, because as soon as people hear about it it pretty much screws up my plans, since so many people will be doing it. I'll just say, that it involves selling certain items at a highly inflated price.
I have some more good news as well, European Auto finally got all of the parts in for my car, so I will be taking it in on Monday to get all of the work done. I also, just ordered the Viper alarm system i wanted, but I don't seem to have enough money for the amp and sub I wanted to get, I think it has something to do with this horrible PC upgrading addiction I have. Anyone who can spare some money to aid me in my recovery, please send it to 555, Happy Place Ave. Brandon MB. I will be greatly appreciative. (p.s. if you really do want to send me money, e-mail me, and I'll tell you my real address).

I just did a REALLY big update to the Future plans section, Make sure you Check it out.
Posted Nov.18, 2000. 3:25PM central time
Well, I finally got all the new hardware for my PC. Here's a list of the stuff:
The Rest of my computer consists of the following part's, which I kept from my old system:
Any thoughts or comments on this system? Please e-mail me.
Once I get some time, I'll also post some Benchmarks from this very fast PC.
Posted Nov.14, 2000. 6:45PM central time
Man, today really sucks. I was supposed to get all of my new computer stuff today, but of course it's not here. It probably has something to do with the bad roads around here. I was also going to buy The newest game in the Monkey Island series, Escape From Monkey Island, but of course the local computer store doesn't have it yet!! And to top it all off I had a really crappily hard test today at the fine College ACC. Not to mention the tons of homework I need to finish for tomorrow. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to go take a few dozen Advil's.
Posted Nov.13, 2000. 5:06PM central time I'm just about to get the new deck for my car, to replace the one that was stolen. And I was looking at some Clarion decks. They looked not too bad. aparently they have really
good skip protection. And I was actually looking at this one in particular.
It's the DRB4675 model, and its got a really good price but still has the quality I'm looking for. If anyone has opinions on Clarion Decks
please e-mail me. I'm really interested to hear what people think about Clarion.
Thanks. Everything Else I get, as far as car audio goes, I will be getting from a friend that sells DEI stuff. They make awesome equipment. And if anyone lives in Brandon Manitoba Canada, let me know. I'll let you know how to get in touch with him.
Posted Nov.10, 2000. 7:47PM central time Well, European Auto still doesn't have all of the parts in for my Fox. It turns out that it's
pretty hard to get parts for this vehicle. Oh well, they should have the last of them in by the start
of next week. But who really knows? But anyways as soon as I get this done, the very first thing I will be doing is putting in a really nice alarm, as well as some nice stereo equipment. But you can read more about my plans in the Future Plans section.
Here's another little piece of info, I just sold most of my old PC's component's. And yesterday I ordered a
bunch of new part's for my beast. I used to have a Celeron 366 oc'ed up to 550, but that wasn't really
cutting it anymore. So I decided on an upgrade. I had been planning one for a while, but I couldn't
really make up my mind on which CPU to get. I basically just wanted as much speed as I could get,
without blowing all my moolah. And I don't care how good you say AMD is, they still don't have all of the
instabilities and compatiblity issues worked out of their drivers. So for the longest while, I had my
mind set on getting an FC-PGA intel PIII 700E, and oc'ing it to ~1Ghz on an Asus CUSL2. That was my plan up until a few
days ago, when I checked the current CPU prices. What I noticed is that the PIII 866EB is only about
$60 bucks more that the 700E. Now, I know overclocking a CPU already running at the 133Mhz FSB is
difficult, but with the CUSL2 it shouldn't really be too much of a problem, since I can set the
Memory clock lower than the FSB, and I have the 1/2 AGP multiplier. Like if I set the FSB to 150Mhz
(6.5x150=975Mhz),
I can try my memory at that speed, but if it won't run I can just bump it down to 112Mhz and that's
looked after. and if the FSB is at 150 and my AGP multiplier is set to 1/2 that will set my AGP clock
to 75Mhz, which my Geforce DDR should be able to handle, it's supposed to be able to handle around 89Mhz.
And finally the last, and main reason, for my getting the 866, is that if all of this fails I still have
866Mhz. But to aid in my overclocking adventures I will be purchasing a nice big heatsink and fan, the Globalwin FEP32. This ends my
ranting about computers. If none of this made sense to you, pretend you never read it. See ya.
Posted Nov.6, 2000. 11:03PM central time And.. I finally got the monitor. About time. And it's pretty awesome. Although it's not the 445Pro, it's the 445Xi. It
can't go to quite as high resolutions or refresh rates as the PRO, but it's still 21" of goodness.
Posted Nov.2, 2000. 8:56PM central time I thought I'd just let all of you millions that visit my page know that tomorrow I will have one of
the most incredible monitor's in existence. A 21" Nokia 445Pro. It's got a flatscreen Sony Trinitron
tube, and it will do 1800x1440 @ 85Hz. I betcha wanna know how I swindled that. Well, the Computer
store that I work for, which will remain nameless, somehow got in contact with some guy in toronto
that was selling these really nice monitors. And he was selling them so cheap because, apparently
Viewsonic bought out Nokia's monitor division, and this guy just happened to have, something like 100
of these monitor's in stock. And let's just say that the price he was asking was much, much more than
fair. And no, don't e-mail me to get you one, because I can't. They'll get suspicious if I order
more than one. Oh, and it looks like I will be getting my Fox fixed pretty soon, probably the start of
next week.

Posted Nov.1, 2000. 6:07PM central time Here's a little something that happened to me recently that I thought would be interesting enough to put up here... My Car was just broken into, the stereo was stolen, and my dash was destroyed.
I find this almost funny because the deck was really old, and pretty crappy. It could barely read burnt disc's, and it skipped constantly.
After they got the deck out, they took the back panel out to get at the back speakers. Once they finally got that out and actually saw the
speakers, they just left them. That's how crappy they were. And they still couldn't figure out that I had a crappy sound system,
because then they proceded to remove my back seat, looking for a CD changer. Unfortunately I don't have one. I guess I'm not too mad about
the whole ordeal, but there was a short while when I was worried that my car would be written off. You see, the book price on my
'88 VW Fox GL, is only $850, and the dash needed to be completely replaced. I wasn't sure how much a dash for this particular car was worth. But fortunately after the insurance estimator checked out the car, Autopac decided to repair the damage, and I had just changed my deductable to $200 so I'm not hurting too bad.
