This page holds a collection of photos that I took during the cleanup of the comet. I took the car to work and used the pressure washer and cleaning agent to take out a pile of the ...ummmmmm well I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Click on the Thumbnails to enlarge the view!

Now TALK ABOUT CLEAN EH??
  • After a little cleaning with the pressure washer and scrubbing a bit here she is in all her glory... just a little spit and polish.... well maybe a little more than that!!
  • And I thought the car was WHITE!!!
Just a little surface rust is all the AD stated!
  • After cleaning out the piles of bird droppings and crude this what was left.. There was a rubber matt that seemed to hold the moisture and rotted out parts of the rear floors..
  • Check out the RESTOMOD pages for an update on the floor pans.
A couple of SURVIVORS!
  • The fellow that had the convertible before me had these buckets stored in a spot to protect them.
  • THEY LOOK PRETTY GOOD EH?. I understand that they are from a falcon due to the emblem on the seatback.
And I thought the Comet was WHITE!
  • Just a little touchup and she should be ready to GO!.
  • YA RIGHT ...!
Not bad for a 39 year old eh
  • I know this looks bad, but most of the rust you see is primarily surface, although I did have to replace a little of the floor sheet metal...
  • I am in the process now of scrubbing all the loose rust and coating with zero-rust.
After removing the debris and parts
  • This shot of the trunk doesnt look to bad eh.. just a little rust in the top of the gas tank and a little patching of the sheet metal.
  • Have a close look at the top of the fender....this is going to need some serious attention.
From under on the hoist
  • What amazed me what how pristine the underbody on the car is... .
  • Goes to show you that there wasnt much salt used on the roads in those days..THANK GOODNESS!!
Interior Pieces
  • Here is the pile of interior pieces salvaged during the cleanup...
  • I will have some patterns at least to go by when the interior goes back in.
Getting most of the pieces off of her FINALLY!
  • Here is a photo from the collection I took during the stripping of the front of the car
  • As you can see there isnt much left on this END!
She came out without a SCRATCH
  • I thought the removal of the windshield was going to be tricky....
  • Here she is all cleaned up ready for the stripper....
Phew almost THERE!
  • For the past month or so I have been taking pieces of the car.. there is barely a bolt left on her I think
  • Now where did that piece come from?
Just a few pieces to keep track of!
  • I took out the quarter panel glass assemblies intact as well..
  • JUST HOPE I CAN GET them BACK TOGETHER!
What is this guy looking at
  • I have come to know this cleaning device intimately in the last few months...
  • With a little GLASS bead she can sure clean parts.
From old to NEW again!
  • Here is the sample of the cleaning the bead blast cabinet can do!
  • Not to bad for a carpenter eh?
The mice were busy one day.... man
  • I was wondering why the door on the fresh air vent wouldnt move.. well have a close look
  • The mice were using this area as a burial grounds I think.....
Someone did a real number here!
  • I am going to have to do some fancy fabricating to get this back to near original
  • As you can see not only the quarter is cut but also the end of the rocker... MAN!
Did someone Say Clean the air???
  • Check out the new item on the ceiling. I have been bothered by the amount of dust in the shop while doing the body work..welding, grinding sanding etc...
  • This 750 CFM will really clean it out.......in a HURRY!!!!!!!!
