Q. Accidents at intersection of Willowdale and Silver birch. 4 accidents over past couple of years. Is there anything we can do to fix this corner? (Aug 06)

A. Response from Development Services: Looking at traffic circle at intersection. This is quite high on their list. (Sept 06)

This was tentatively scheduled to be completed in 2007 but has been delayed until at least 2008. I will check later in the year to see what the status of this is.

Q. 34th and Richmond intersection. (Aug 06)

A. Response from Development Services: A traffic circle is being looked at to fix pedestrian and traffic problem. (Sept 06)

A design is currently being worked on and should be ready by June. The city is currently working with the developers of Brookwood so they tie their walkways together. The job will go out to tender shortly. (May 07)

Response from Development Services: On September 17th, 2007, the tender for construction of the traffic circle at 34th St. and Richmond Ave. closed. No bids were received for the proposed work. We had a mid-November completion date and with average weather conditions, the work could have been completed. We suspect the primary reason that we received no bids is that this time of year contractors are finishing up their contracts and are not prepared to take on new work. We will re-tender the work in February 2008 for an early spring start of construction. The funds allocated in 2007 will be reallocated in the 2008 budget. (Oct 07)

Response from Development Services: Tenders went out in February and do not close until March 18th. We should have a schedule in place in April. (Mar 08)

Response from Development Services: Traffic Circle - Effective June 23rd, construction will begin on the traffic circle at Richmond Ave. and 34th Street. The intersection will be closed to through traffic during construction. Construction is expected to last 6 weeks. Appropriate detours will be created and media releases will be conducted to keep the public informed about the intersection closure.

Q. Prairie – when is it budgeted to be fixed. (Sept 06)

A. Response from Development Services: It is currently being planned to be resurfaced in 2007. A definite timeline will be determined in the next month.

Update from Development Services: On Prairie we are going to excavate 16", removing all the curbing and replace and rebuild road. The city will send out notices a week or two before the work begins.

A lot of the work has been completed. There is still some driveway work that needs to be completed. We are expecting it to be done the week of Oct 1st. (Oct 07)
