La Cantina

(Some folks build a tool shed, or a garage on their rural property, but Ken Daniels had a better idea.)

The Shack

The humble Band Shack

In the beginning, KD, the Godfather of the Jam, created the "Shack". And he said, "Let there be loud music and liquid refreshment".

And it came to pass. And the bands that gathered there prospered and multiplied.

Well, their souls prospered and the equipment certainly multiplied.

So KD said to the assembled musicians, "Let us build a larger temple. Let it be in the spirit of the original, but let it be grander in scale and of a more sturdy construction. And let it be environmentally friendly."

So the assembled multitude gathered bales of flax straw and constructed a building 40 cubits by 60 cubits, complete with stage and bar. And they saw that it was good.  And they marvelled at the thought that a group of musicians could create such an edifice.

Corners are important.

Rebar help holds it all together

A thick coat of stucco, some wood trim which we milled from
 old hydro poles

And it was christened, "La Cantina".

Interior also finished in stucco and the stage is always ready - just
plug in a guitar  and flip a switch.

Sound board and bar - what more could one want?

Ken Daniels and Bill Hillman, who, along with Ken Storie (to the far left) and John Felgeurias on drums, were one of the groups
of friends who spent many an evenning in in totally self-indulgent
jamming and polite conversation
at La Cantina
