One day, in 1981, when I was buying crochet cotton for my grandma (her "thing" was crocheting), I saw a counted cross stitch kit of a seed package in the window. I bought it and completed it in one weekend. There were no instructions in the kit other than the chart, so I stitched the kit "my" way. I ran out of thread so went back to the store. The lady was very sweet and told me I hadn't done it right. I completed each "x" individually. She helped me pick most of it out and she gave me a quick lesson. So, I started again and I was hooked.
Gram was so happy that I finally had my "thing". We would sit together and work on our projects.
